CROSSLink is a simple daily word puzzle. This page explains, in plain language, what information is involved when you play and how it's used.
No account required
CROSSLink does not require you to create an account. We do not currently ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any profile information to play.
Game data stored on your device
CROSSLink stores your game progress, streaks, recent results, and your analytics choice (see Analytics below) in your browser using a technology called localStorage. This lets the game remember your progress, daily history, and choices the next time you visit.
The saved localStorage record itself stays on your device and is not uploaded as a file or account record. If you choose "Allow analytics," some gameplay measurements derived from play — such as completion, attempts, hint use, solve time, and streak/returning-player counts — may then be sent to Google Analytics. Clearing your browser or site storage will erase the saved local record, including your analytics choice (see "Your choices" below).
Hosting & technical information
CROSSLink is hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Like most websites, Cloudflare processes standard technical request information (such as IP address and request metadata) as part of delivering and securing the site. We don't independently collect or store this information ourselves, and we don't use it to identify individual players.
Analytics
CROSSLink uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic traffic and site performance. It's a privacy-focused service that doesn't use cookies, and it's always on.
CROSSLink also offers Google Analytics, which is optional. It's only turned on if you choose "Allow analytics" when asked; if you choose "No thanks" (or don't choose at all), Google Analytics stays off. When it's on, it helps us understand aggregate usage — such as how far players get through a puzzle, how long puzzles take, and how often hints are used — and it may use cookies or similar browser technology to do that.
Neither service is used to collect your name or email address — CROSSLink doesn't ask for those through gameplay in the first place — and CROSSLink does not intentionally send your puzzle guesses or answers to either service. Google Analytics is a third-party service, and Google's own handling of the data it receives is governed by Google's privacy policy, not this one.
Your choices
Because your game data lives in your browser, you're in control of it. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data or storage for crosslinkpuzzle.com — this resets your local streak and history, and clears your analytics choice, so you'll be asked about analytics again next time.

If CROSSLink's data practices change, we'll update this page and the date above.
